Nice To Be On The Rail Again

It was nice to be on the rail again last night, standing between a couple lovely ladies and then watching some great musicians and song writers do their thing. Made a few more new friends too. A little crick in the neck from looking up most of the night, a disadvantage of being close to a tall stage. The House of Blues is pretty nice inside, I hadn't been there since they remodeled. What a sound system! Mom had won a pair of premium tickets and I was a little anxious about another crushing GA floor experience but the Boston crowd was great (mostly adults). The ~4 hour standing thing wasn't bad with all the distraction. Boston was the first place the Heartbreakers got any radio air time, and its always had a place in their heart.. and it shows in Petty's performances. They played late with a couple more tunes than usual. We managed to catch one of the last green line trains (still packed from the game so I had to continue standing the 40 minute ride back to Riverside). The RedSox game made parking in town difficult, but the streets around Fenway more interesting. Mudcrutch is one of those bands that sounds better live than on CD. The Shelters were good, a more hard rock band. Lots of young talent there.
